ISHOF ANNOUNCES INDUCTION CLASS OF 2009
The International Swimming Hall of Fame today announced the Honoree Induction Class of 2009, consisting of 9 of the greatest names in aquatic history.
“This is clearly one of our most diverse and international classes in a long time,” said Bob Duenkel, ISHOF’s staff liaison to the international selection committee of over 150 aquatic authorities.
The class of inductees includes two honorees from the Netherlands, Russia, and the USA, and one from the nations of Italy, Japan and Great Britain. The class of 2009 inductees includes:
INGE DE BRUIJN (NED) Honor Swimmer, ALEKSANDR POPOV (RUS) Honor Swimmer, JENNY THOMPSON (USA) Honor Swimmer, OLGA BRUSNIKINA (RUS) Honor Synchronized Swimmer, GIANNI LONZI (ITA) Honor Water Polo Player/Coach, KEVIN MURPHY (GBR) Honor Open water swimmer, IKKAKU MATSUZAWA (JPN) Honor Coach, JUDY McGOWAN (USA) Honor Contributor/Synchronized Swimming, and IET VAN FEGGELEN (NED) Honor Pioneer Swimmer.

NEW VIDEO ARCHIVE FOOTAGE
The International Swimming Hall of Fame's film and video archive, which dates to the 1920's, is the most extensive and comprehensive in the world. As we have continued to preserve and transfer footage from film to DVD, we have added to the virtual archive so that historic events from aquatic history can be enjoyed throughout the world.

Swimming Hall Of Fame Exhibit And Induction
At USA Swimming Olympic Trials
The Museum of Swimming and the International Swimming Hall of Fame were very visible at the USA Swimming Olympic Trials, June 29 – July 6, at the Qwest Center, in Omaha, Nebraska. In addition to hosting the 2008 44th Annual TOYOTA Induction Ceremony, ISHOF’s Museum of Swimming presented an exhibit, in collaboration with SPEEDO on “The Evolution of Swimwear.” Both the Induction Ceremony and Exhibit were very well received.

C. Eugene Keltner Passes Away
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gene Keltner on April 15th, 2008. Gene was a long-time supporter of the International Swimming Hall of Fame and served on the ISHOF Board of Directors from 1972-2004. Throughout his life he was involved in all levels of swimming, from coach to referee and administrator. He was a frequent visitor to Fort Lauderdale and ISHOF through his active involvement with the YMCA and the College Swimming Coaches Association.
Gene was instrumental in bringing the YMCA National Swimming and Diving Championships to Fort Lauderdale and the Hall of Fame in the early 1970’s. He was a past Chairman of the National YMCA Swimming & Diving Committee and the YMCA Swim Council. Gene was a long-time member of the USA Olympic Men’s Swimming Committee and served on the Housing Staff for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. He was a key official the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Trials and served as an official at countless NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships.
Originally from Decatur, Illinois, Gene spent his last years living close to his family in the state of Washington. He was 87 years old.

2008 ISHOF's 38th Annual Diving Extravaganza
ISHOF's 38th Annual Diving Extravanga this year featured the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix. This Olympic preview event featured the top Olympic divers in the world, including gold medalists, world champions and Olympians from the USA, China, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, Italy and many more. The Diving Extravaganza also featured comedy diving exhibitions and a "Dreaming of Beijing" Asian Cultural Festival, with demonstrations of Asian cooking, martial arts, music, dancing and singing - and a special appearance by the Beijing 2008 Olympic mascots.
