A five-time Olympian, Tania Cagnotto, of Italy, reached the pinnacle of her career at the Olympic Games in Rio, earning a silver medal in the 3-meter synchronized springboard event and a bronze medal in the individual 3-meter event.  Cagnotto’s achievement marked Italy’s first Olympic medals in women’s diving.  This accomplishment was especially meaningful following a near-miss at the 2012 London Games, where she finished just off the podium in both events.

On the world stage, Cagnotto consistently ranked among the elite, highlighted by her gold medal in the 1-meter springboard at the 2015 World Championships—the first world title by an Italian woman in diving.

Her career spanned from 1999-2016, and included: five Olympic Games, eight world championships, eight world cups, 31 World Series and 54 FINA Diving Grand Prixes.

Over eight World Championship appearances, she collected multiple medals across individual and synchronized events, showcasing her versatility and technical mastery.

Dominant at the continental level, Cagnotto amassed 20 gold medals at the European Championships, along with numerous silver and bronze, establishing herself as one of Europe’s most decorated divers. Her partnership with Francesca Dallapè produced one of the most successful synchronized teams in history, capturing multiple European titles.

The daughter of Olympic diver and ISHOF honoree Giorgio Cagnotto, Tania carried forward a proud family legacy while forging her own path across nearly two decades of competition.

Cagnotto is married to Stefano Parolin and has two children, Maya and Lisa.

Since retiring, she has continued to contribute to the sport as a leader and mentor within Italian Swimming and Italian Olympic Committee. in November 2025, she earned the prestigious golden star award for merit in sports.
