INTERNATIONAL SWIMMING HALL OF FAME:
FEATURED IN ESPN MAGAZINE

Fort Lauderdale - When ESPN Magazine hits the newsstands this week, look for a photo of the FINA Grand Prix Diving meet, at the Hall of Fame Pool, on the cover and more about the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF) in its story on objects that define the history of sports.

"Photographer Svend Lindbaek was in Ft. Lauderdale to photograph Johnny Weissmuller's swimming suit and the lane 4 starting block from which Mark Spitz won six of his seven Olympic gold medals," said Bruce Wigo, President of the ISHOF.

Weissmuller's bathing suit, along with over 100 other pieces of aquatic memorabilia will be on display at a special ISHOF exhibition in Shanghai, China next moth, during the XIV FINA World Aquatic Championships.

Last year, the ISHOF was selected by the Travel Channel as the "Best Sports Museum" in the State of Florida and earlier this year was listed by the New York Times as one of the top places to visit during weekend stay in Fort Lauderdale.

The other museums featured in the ESPN article are: PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME, CANTON, OHIO]; NATIONAL BASEBALL HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM, COOPERSTOWN, N.Y.; SMITHSONIAN'S NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AMERICAN HISTORY, WASHINGTON, D.C.; OXFORD UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC CLUB, OXFORD, ENGLAND; BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME, SPRINGFIELD, MASS; WORLD GOLF HALL OF FAME, ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA; JACK NICKLAUS MUSEUM, COLUMBUS, OHIO; 1932 AND 1980 WINTER OLYMPIC MUSEUM, LAKE PLACID, N.Y.; HOCKEY HALL OF FAME, TORONTO, CANADA; MUSEU DO FUTEBOL, SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL; COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME, SOUTH BEND, IND

Through October, the ISHOF is featuring an exhibition on 100 Years of Swimming in Fort Lauderdale that includes a special Jantzen Swimwear exhibit of 100 years of Swimwear: From Bloomers to Bikinis. The Jantzen exhibit includes bathing suits worn by President Ronald Reagan, Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell, as well as swimwear fashion worn at the time "Where the Boys Are" made Fort Lauderdale a Spring Break destination. Jantzen is a division of Pery Ellis, Intl.
