Bob, My Mentor and Coach
Bob, my next door neighbor taught me to swim after I almost drown when I was six years old. I went on to be on his swimming team, helped to teach kids to swim under his direction, and then swim in his water pageants and shows.
Bob became my mentor and helped me in many ways to develop my leadership skills. Without his guidance, I don’t know where I would be today. During the last year, I would talk to him once or twice a day. At the end of our conversation I would often say - “Bob! Thanks for teaching me to swim!” He would always answer by saying - “I know.”
Bob had more influence on my life than any other man.
When I asked him to serve as Chairperson of the Public Relations Committee for the ISHOF International Advisory Committee, he agreed and developed a great PR and Marketing Plan for ISHOF!
I don’t know where I would be today if Bob had not been my mentor!
